Six-class launch roster

Mistfall Hunter Classes

Compare every current class by weapon branch, learning curve, solo pressure, and team value—without treating a launch-week tier list as permanent.

Quick answer

Mistfall Hunter has six launch classes: Mercenary, Sorcerer, Blackarrow, Seer, Shadowstrix, and Withered Knight. Pick Mercenary for a forgiving first character, Blackarrow for ranged solo pressure, Shadowstrix for mobility and ambushes, Seer for team support, Sorcerer for high-skill spell control, or Withered Knight for heavy pressure and battlefield control.

Class notes

What the current official balance notes actually say

01 · Mercenary

Best default for learning

Official data called Mercenary broadly balanced. Sword & Shield rewards defensive timing; Hammer trades safety for heavier PvE impact. Independent launch guides consistently treat it as the most straightforward entry point.

02 · Sorcerer

Control with a higher entry cost

Elemental and Stardust staff paths cover burst, AoE, and crowd control. The developers said kill and damage data were balanced, but the class had a steep learning curve and needed better baseline survivability.

03 · Blackarrow

Ranged solo pressure

The official launch note says Blackarrow slightly overperformed in high-tier solo matches. Archer rewards charged shots; Hunter emphasizes frequent hits. Both were adjusted, so old beta rankings need caution.

04 · Seer

Two very different jobs

Catalyst includes Support and Reverent directions, with healing utility but weaker raw damage. Mace offers chase and kiting tools, although long-distance disengage was reduced before launch.

05 · Shadowstrix

Mobility and controlled aggression

Dagger and Dual Blades reward flanking and rapid pressure. Official notes described the class as broadly balanced but reduced excessive mobility and crowd-control chains.

06 · Withered Knight

Heavy offense or team utility

Greatsword is the more offensive branch. Polearm & Shield brings reach, block-protected counters, formation disruption, and teammate protection, but requires more precise timing and aim.

Current patch watch

What the Aug 6–7 updates changed

  1. Blackarrow lost some Steel Arrow impact. Uncharged shots no longer apply the impact effect, while fully charged shots have slightly less impact. Ranged pressure remains useful, but old control assumptions need retesting.
  2. Withered Knight received two small energy improvements. Sprinting Slash and Withering Mark now cost slightly less Energy.
  3. Mercenary and Sorcerer received targeted fixes. The update fixed specific Sword & Shield auto-block and Stardust charged Meteor Charm issues; those fixes alone do not establish a new tier order.
  4. Polearm & Shield lost an unintended interaction. The Aug 7 server update fixed canceling a charge abnormally triggering the Focused affix movement-speed bonus.
Recommendation check

These changes narrow specific interactions rather than proving a new permanent ranking. The beginner, solo, and team-fit suggestions on this page remain conditional.

Build depth

A class is only the first decision

Each class branches further through active skills, talent paths, gear, and gem affixes. That is why one-word rankings age quickly: the stance, equipment tier, map, and team size can change the result.

Decision shortcut

Choose in three questions

  1. Do you want melee or range? Start with Mercenary or Withered Knight for direct melee; Sorcerer or Blackarrow for range.
  2. Do you want to survive mistakes or create openings? Mercenary gives clearer defensive fundamentals; Shadowstrix and Blackarrow reward proactive positioning.
  3. Are you mostly solo or in a trio? Solo raises the value of self-sufficiency and escape; coordinated squads gain much more from Seer and defensive Polearm & Shield play.
